The Shack

A few weekends ago we headed down to James’ families little house on the NC waterway “The Shack”. The Shack holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first places that James and I ever hung out for an extended period of time, its absolutely beautiful, Tilley is the happiest, and our beloved “Great Oma Elsie” lives next door. “Oma” is Dutch for grandma (Elsie is 100% Dutch) and Elsie is our adopted Oma and now Great Oma, for Barron. There are so many things I could say about Oma Elsie, but I think these photos speak for themselves. She will be 92 in September, and she still has her crab pot, perfect nails, and has crocheted us at least 4 blankets and baby sweaters over the last few years. We love Oma Elsie, and this was the first time she met Barron! It was all around an amazing trip, and I will treasure these photos forever.

PS… some of my favorite pictures are portraits of aging family members. If you have a Mamaw, Papaw, Great Oma, please consider doing generational photos. You will always cherish photos of older family members! ( i’ll do a special rate for you too if you mention this blog and say you want generational photos 😉 )

We also visited the Costal federation Community Garden (it’s on the same road as The Shack!). They do such cool work with the local community and public schools in Carteret county. Go check them out.

Mr. Carter’s new Grady White is beautiful! James had fun playing around with the full moon night time photography.
